Right to Buy or Acquire my home

Right to Buy/Acquire valuations

If you have a pending Right to Buy/Acquire application which has been admitted, there may be a delay in obtaining the open market valuation due to the period of lockdown in which surveyors were unable to carry out physical valuations.

If this applies to you our legal team will be in contact with you directly and will keep you informed of any changes to the timescales that apply to your case. Please be assured that we are working hard to meet the statutory timescales that apply to your individual case.

If you are a tenant who has resided in housing association, housing company or local authority housing for a specified period you may have the Right to Buy the home you are living in at a discounted rate.

Whether you have such an entitlement, and the amount of discount you are eligible for, depends on your type of home and the length of time you have spent as a qualifying tenant.

The rules are quite complicated so you are advised to contact us for specific advice.

There are exceptions to the Right to Buy, such as sheltered housing and temporary accommodation.

If you do not qualify for Right to Buy, you could be eligible for the Right to Acquire scheme.
